THE ABBEY OF PASSIGNANO
The blue sky, the drystone walls along the roadside, the nuanced greens of the vine rows, the cypresses, the olive groves. Ristoro l’Antica Scuderia is enveloped in the enchanting atmosphere of the Abbey of Passignano.A postcard landscape where time seems to have stopped: the monastery complex, built in 1049 by Saint Giovanni Gualberto, is still inhabited by Benedictine monks.
And all around, churches decorated with frescos, medieval tower-homes, the receding ranks of Tuscany’s hills: a marvelous territory, another reason to return to the Ristoro.
A JEWEL TO DISCOVER
Thanks to the monastic community of the neighboring Abbey of Passignano, private visits are organized of this perfectly-conserved, 14th-century jewel, an ideal starting point to discover the Chianti region and its parish churches, castles, and villages. In the summer, the Abbey hosts classical music concerts in the refectory – with its frescoes by Ghirlandaio.
